Experience

If you wish to maximize your return on time and money invested into playing World of Tanks, you need to purchase World of Tanks Tips & Tricks by Glen Myers. Standard experience, also referred to as “Tank specific experience” is the normal experience that goes toward the tank itself. This experience is used to research modules and research the next tank in line on the tech tree. This experience can’t be used for anything else unless you convert it at a later date (see the section titled Converting Experience).

 

After completing a battle, if you take a look at the window that breaks down your earned experience and credit expenditures, you’ll notice there are two columns for experience earned. The first (left side) is the amount of experience you earn with a Standard account. The second (right side) is the amount of experience you earn with a Premium account. If you pay for a premium account – which is a monthly or yearly fee – then you will earn an additional 50% experience than a Standard account. Since the game is free, this is Wargaming’s way of earning money off their efforts.

 

Nobody is required to pay a dime to play this game. Anyone can buy/sell tanks and train crews without whipping out a credit card and spending money. However, if you choose to pay a monthly fee for a premium account, Wargaming will reward you with bonus experience. That is why the game is referred to as a “pay to win” game. The players who can afford (or who are willing to spend the money) a Premium account will earn extra experience. And extra xp translates to a smoother operating tank and a well-trained crew (see the section titled Crew Experience). Not only does a Premium account earn extra experience, it also earns extra credits as well, which further makes the game easier to play/win when one has a Premium account as the extra credits earned can go toward purchasing tank equipment and improving a tank’s overall mobility/DPS.
