Here’s a few of the benefits of playing light tanks:

Mobility – Vroom Vroom! Yep, you’re the fastest and most agile in the game. Goes with the territory. You can outmaneuver pretty much any enemy tank except another light, just don’t get caught trying to circle strafe or let the enemy hug a wall while turning their turret.

Late Game Fun – When the enemy team has lost a significant number of players and victory is certain, it’s time to zoom across the map and start flanking the enemy, especially enemy heavies. They are the most fun. Many times the heavy flank is the only one remaining, and while your teammates playing heavies keep the enemy turrets faced in their direction, you can swoop behind and pelt them in the rear and rack up an insane amount of damage. Remember: the most health in the game is where the heavies are! If you have a chance to sneak behind enemy lines, that’s where you will accumulate the most damage.

Passive Play – Sometimes all you need to do is park your tank in the right location and then you can go to the kitchen and make a sandwich. Once you’ve established a fantastic crew for your light tank and have a high concealment rating, you can park your tank in a bush or on a tree line and do nothing else for pretty much the rest of the game. Passive scouting isn’t as easy as it looks, but after you’ve got a 5 or 6 skill crew in your light tank, it really is as easy as it looks!

The entire map is your playground – you’re so fast that you aren’t committed to one side of the map. Heavy tanks, most artillery and even a number of TDs are stuck to playing whichever side of the map they choose initially. Not so for light tanks. You can alter course and change the dynamics of a game almost instantly.
